We have an exciting update on our career center website that will make it even easier to find what you’re looking for!
AI Search is now live on PennWest’s Career Center, and it’s going to change how you find the resources, opportunities, and support you need. Instead of scrolling through search results or trying to remember what to type, just ask a question in your own words.
Things like:
- What can I do with a psychology degree?
- What resources are available for students with disabilities?
- How do I prepare for an interview?
- What events are coming up for business students?
- What are some ways I can gain experience in public policy this summer?
AI Search will find the most relevant resources, events, and opportunities from our career center and show you exactly where to find them. The best part? When you’re logged in*, it personalizes results just for you. It will factor in your profile details and preferences as well as your past conversation history, so you get the best answers. It also does not pull from the open internet, just the content the Career Center has curated.
Questions? Stop by the PennWest Career Center on each campus or email us at career@pennwest.edu.
*Students can login using their PennWest credentials. Employers, alumni, and staff/faculty are unable to login at this time. Guests who are not logged in can only complete 1 search per session.
FAQ
No. AI Search only searches PennWest’s career center content, giving responses that have much more institutional context. It has no access to the open internet and cannot produce unvetted or harmful information. Every answer comes from content your career center has published.
Absolutely not. AI Search helps students find resources at 2am when staff aren’t available. It does not provide personalized advice, emotional support, or the human connection that career coaching offers. Think of it as extending reach, not replacing it.
AI Search only surfaces content that has been published by the PennWest Career Center. It will not fabricate answers. If it can’t find a match for a student’s question, it says so clearly and directs them to contact the Career Center. Accuracy and trust are foundational to how it’s designed.
Yes. uConnect maintains SOC 2 compliance. PennWest’s content and student data are never shared with other institutions. Student queries are not used to train any AI model.
No. This is a common concern with general-purpose AI tools. AI Search is specifically designed to avoid hallucination; it only generates responses grounded in content it has actually retrieved from the site. If the content isn’t there, it tells the student it couldn’t find a match, rather than making something up.
