Job Summary
The Summer Assistant on the Edinboro campus is a student staff member of the Student Affairs Division, including Event Services, Residence Life and Housing, and Pogue Student Center. The Summer Assistant’s primary role is to be a University representative for residential guests and to serve as an overall resource for the campus community. Due to the nature of various summer events and University needs, the Summer Assistant will perform multiple duties.
Qualifications/Requirements
· Must live on-campus for the summer
· Attend training in May for Summer Assistants
· Commitment to work at least 20 hours a week for the entire length of the summer camp season
· Must be in good standing with Office of Student Conduct
· Good organizational, communication, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to exercise good judgment
· Well-mannered, professional image
· Strong work ethic
Responsibilities and Duties
Event Services/Residence Life and Housing
· Participate in the opening and closing (check-in and check-out) of camps of the residence halls, including key distribution, key collection, room checks, damage reporting, etc.
· Be responsible for the overall physical aspects of the residence hall environment, including but not limited to: room inspections; common area and room damage assessment and billing; general maintenance and housekeeping issues, and furniture/asset tracking, and occupancy verification.
· Attend and participate in required meetings such as one on one meetings, staff meetings, and other meetings as deemed necessary by supervisory staff.
· Be available and accessible to conference attendees and campers.
· Respond to and manage emergent issues that occur to the level of training provided
· Assist with facility set-ups.
· Perform office assistance
· Work closely with Camp Directors and other members of the PennWest Staff.
· Monitor and enforce rules and regulations of different areas on campus.
· Check on field and facility usage by each camp or conference.
· Serve as a daily contact for conferences and perform daily rounds throughout campus, aiding where needed for various activities and events.
· Perform rounds in the “on-duty” rotation in the residence halls as scheduled and assist with lockouts or other hall issues.
· Maintain daily communications log and documentation of all paperwork, keys, and building resources.
· Responsible for knowing and adhering to the policies and procedures outlined in the Summer Conferences Operations Manual.
· Do miscellaneous tasks assigned by Student Affairs professional staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
Pogue Student Center
· Have working knowledge of the Information Desk and Building Operations and assist with operational and safety procedures at the student employee level.
· Have working knowledge of opening and closing procedures for the Student Center.
· Have working knowledge of Student Center audio/visual equipment and be able to set up and operate it .
· Assist with summer events held in the Student Center, including room set ups and tear downs and A/V.
· Do miscellaneous tasks assigned by Student Affairs professional staff.
