Job Summary
The GA for Outdoor Adventure oversees the general operations of all recreational activities for Campus Outdoor Recreational Experience (C.O.R.E) programs and the ropes course. This position works directly with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation on the daily functions and programs for these areas. This individual is responsible for all functions occurring during their shift as well as coordinating the activities of the student employees under his or her authority. He or she must be committed to maintaining a high level of performance on the job and receive direct supervision from the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, as well as indirect supervision from the Director of Campus Life and Leadership Development.
Basic Qualifications
Be accepted into a graduate program.
Be enrolled for full time graduate study (9 credits).
Wilderness First Aid or First Responder Certification.
Exceptional organizational skills, communication skills, leadership abilities, as well as the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative in stressful or emergency situations.
Maintain a well-mannered, professional image.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior supervision and/or team leadership experience.
Past involvement with a student organization on a college campus.
Experience working with ropes courses.
Ability to become an approved driver by the Student Government Association is preferred but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting with the planning of all fall/spring CORE training.
Working with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation to supervise a junior-field student for CORE.
Supervising the climbing gym and staff.
Planning the C.O.R.E adventure spring break trip.
Outreach to faculty, staff and outside groups to build interest in outdoor adventure activities.
Spending additional time learning trip guiding techniques and back country nutrition.
Maintaining the office and all outdoor adventure equipment.
Working with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation to generate yearly event schedules.
Supervising weekend and evening C.O.R.E adventure trips.
Reporting all damage of equipment to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.
Overseeing the marketing and promotion of all events.
Maintaining up to date and inventoried files for equipment.
Assisting in the assessment of programs and data collection.
Supervising internal and outside groups participating in leadership programs.
Assisting with supervision of lifeguards and the McComb pool open recreation time.
All other duties as assigned.

Hours
Hours are scheduled by the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation. Early mornings, late evenings, and weekends may be required.
Pay Rate
Employee will be paid $15.00 per hour.
