Job Summary
The GA for Recreational Sports oversees the general operations of all recreational activities for Rec Sports (intramurals) and Dome open recreation programs. This position works directly with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation on the daily functions and programs for these areas. This individual is responsible for all functions occurring during their shift as well as coordinating the activities of the student employees under his or her authority. He or she must be committed to maintaining a high level of performance on the job and receive direct supervision from the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, as well as indirect supervision from the Director of Campus Life and Leadership development.
Basic Qualifications
Be accepted into a graduate program.
Be enrolled for full time graduate study (9 credits).
First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Exceptional organizational skills, communication skills, leadership abilities, as well as the ability to exercise good judgment and initiative in stressful or emergency situations.
Maintain a well-mannered, professional image.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior supervision and/or team leadership experience.
Past involvement with a student organization on a college campus.
General knowledge of recreational sports including gameplay and rules.
Ability to become an approved driver by the Student Government Association is preferred but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting with the planning of all fall/spring Rec Sports training.
Working with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation to supervise a junior-field student for recreation.
Spending additional time learning the rules and gameplay of new activities.
Maintaining the office and all recreation equipment.
Working with the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation to generate yearly event schedules.
Supervising weekend and evening recreational sports.
Reporting all damage of equipment to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.
Overseeing the marketing and promotion of all events.
Maintaining up to date and inventoried files for equipment.
Serving on the PIRSA extramural committee and participating in the PIRSA extramural championships.
Assisting in the assessment of programs and data collection.
Assisting in leadership programs conducted at Edinboro University off-campus locations.
Assisting with club sports teams and events.
All other duties as assigned.
