Facilities & Events Graduate Assistant Summary
As a graduate assistant with the Edinboro Athletics Facility and Events department, you will assist the Athletics Administrative Coordinator and Maintenance Foreman with day-to-day tasks as assigned. Tasks may range from various work on the computer, in and around athletic facilities, and in other facilities on campus for athletic needs. You will assist the Athletics Administrative Coordinator with all aspects of events (internal and external), which includes, but is not limited to, set-up, securing and supervising the appropriate number of student workers, day-of operations for all (internal and external) events, and teardown.
Graduate Assistant Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Athletics Administrative Coordinator and Maintenance Foreman with day-to-day operations, as well as assisting in the development, planning, and management of all events that occur in athletic facilities
- Schedule, coordinate, and supervise work study students for Edinboro Athletics events
- Set-up and teardown for Edinboro Athletics, and external, events (including moving equipment [chairs, tables, goals, flags, etc.], hooking up and testing necessary electronic equipment [scoreboards, videoboards, microphones, audio cables, etc.], painting fields, etc.)
- Collaborate with Sports Information department for game day operations
- Complete facility walk throughs and addressing any improper items prior to every Edinboro Athletics event (areas free of trash, trashcans are empty, visiting/officials locker rooms set-up adequately, equipment that is not needed is properly put away, etc.)
- Assisting other athletic departments and athletic personnel as needed
- Assist the Athletics Administrative Coordinator with troubleshooting and problem solving as needed
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs
- Ability and willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to work in stressful situations and problem solve quickly
- Ability to work in independent and team settings
- Ability to familiarize yourself with, and follow, multiple regulations (university, state, federal, NCAA)
- Ability to operate small motor equipment (UTVs, blowers, weed eaters, mowers, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of and ability to work with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, Google Docs
Graduate Assistant Requirements and Qualifications
- Required: Completion of Bachelor’s Degree
- Required: Enrolled at PennWest Edinboro University as a Graduate Student
- Required: Valid driver’s license
- Required: Flexible schedule – Able to often work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends
