POSITION: Summer Event Assistant
HOURS: Up to 40 hours per week
START/END: Position begins on June 23rd
- Training: June 23rd – July 3rd (off on July 4th)
- Last Day of Position – August 2nd
WAGES:
Event Assistant: $9.00
PRIMARY DRESS: Pennwest issued shirts- Any pants you are comfortable in; except no holes, no sweatpants and please wear professional length shorts.
PRIMARY SUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Residence Life in Collaboration with the Associate Director of Student Center Operations and Event Services
SECONDARY SUPERVISOR: Conference Services Management Technician

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a current PennWest University Student to Apply.
- Must live on campus during summer; may not live off campus.
- Valid Driver’s License (preferred, but not required)
- Day, evening, weekend, and holiday work, as well as on-call responsibilities.
- Restricted vacation days, unless approved by Supervisors
- Restricted from campus work-study positions while employed in this position.
- Ability to work flexible hours during the week and on weekends.

PRIMARY DUTIES AS REALATED TO EVENT SERVICES:
- Responsible for guest relations on campus.
- Work with assigned camps or conferences.
- Work ‘On-Call’ shifts during scheduled times – these include overnights and weekends
- Coordinate distribution of registration materials for summer events.
- Work closely with the Conference Department on any task assigned.
- Attend all training and scheduling meetings, unless excused in advance by a supervisor.
- May cover shifts in other areas; including the Information Desk in the Natali Student Center.
- All other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AS RELATED TO RESIDENCE HALLS:
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Residence Halls in the summer season. This includes regular room checks, key audits, entering work orders and ensuring their completion.
- Welcome/Greet attendees.
- Check-In and Check-Out overnight guests in Residence Halls.
- Work Scheduled ‘On-Call and Front Desk Shifts’ during group stays.
- Answer attendees’ questions, give directions as asked.
- Available to help attendees even during off-duty hours.
- Do “rounds” through residence hall as directed by Supervisors.
- Complete room inspections before a group arrives and will also complete them before the group exits campus.
- Act as liaison between guest relations and attendees.
- Collect lost and found items left in the residence halls.
- Uphold University Policies as well as State and Federal laws.
- All other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AS RELATED TO KEY CONTROL:
- Responsible for distribution of room keys during check-ins.
- Responsible for collection of all room keys during check-outs and verification of receipt and proper return of keys to keyboard.
- Work with assigned groups as defined by specific registration and checkout times for the camps and conferences.
- Maintain the key storage unit, regulate, and enforce the use of keys. Abide by the key code policy.
- Inventory and verify keys before and after each overnight event.
- Understand the key coding system.
- Notify Housing of any key request promptly.
- All other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES AS RELATED TO NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION:
- Attend all scheduled NSO Days.
- Project a caring, concerned, and approachable demeanor to help communication and establish positive public relations with incoming students and their families.
- Promote campus traditions, programs, and resources.
- All other duties as assigned.
NOTES:
- Employee selection is based on application, background checks and interview process.
- Housing will be provided in one of the residence halls. Because of various maintenance projects in the halls, you might be required to move throughout the summer.
- A meal plan is not provided.
- All hires will be responsible for their own campus parking pass.
- Failure to comply with the above job description can result in termination of employment and loss of compensation and room.
