HARRISBURG, Pa. (EYT) – Noah DiTullio ’25 of Clarion was one of 11 interns recognized by Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor for the contributions of the Department’s interns on National Intern Day.
DiTullio told exploreClarion.com, “I was born and raised in Clarion, and after graduating from Clarion Area High School, I chose to attend PennWest Clarion to pursue a degree in Finance with a concentration in Personal Financial Planning.
“The internship has me assisting auditors in the Bureau of Municipal Pension Audits — which audits every municipality that receives general municipal pension system state aid, ensuring that the plans are properly funded and comply with applicable laws, regulations, etc.”
The Department’s interns are from 10 counties and attend Pennsylvania’s state, state-related, and private universities.
While in Harrisburg, interns toured the Main Capitol Building and Treasury vault. They also participated in a panel session led by three full-time employees who are recent college graduates, two of whom served as interns within the Department.
Since 2021, the Department of the Auditor General has worked to transform the Department with updated equipment, risk-based auditing practices, and new employment opportunities. The “Intern to Hire Career Pathway” allows college students to gain auditing experience at the state level and, ultimately, full-time employment at the Department.
“Overall, I have enjoyed working with everyone at the Department. My supervisors and auditors have done a great job helping me succeed in my role,” DiTullio added.
He noted that while he never expected to get into auditing, he appreciated his internship.
“It has opened my eyes and shown me that there are many paths I can take as I enter the workforce after graduation.”
